How the Greek gods formed
From the beginning of the Earth there were the creators Gaia and Uranus. Uranus and Gaia gave birth to giants, called the Titans. The Titans were huge sized and very much like giants in our fables. Uranus and Gaia had a favorite titan. That titan’s name was Kronos. Uranus and Gaia thought that this was the most perfect son that they could ever have, so they stopped having titans. The couple gave Kronos a mountain to Kronos. Kronos shaped the mountain into a palace. When Kronos married a titan named Rhea, he wondered if he would have any boys as his children. So he went to a fortuneteller and the fortuneteller told Kronos that he would have 3 boys and 3 girls. Kronos was happy. Then the fortuneteller said something that he didn’t want to know. The fortuneteller said that one of his sons would overthrow him one day. Kronos said that it was impossible to overthrow the ruler of the universe. When Rhea gave birth to their firstborn Hades, Kronos said to give the baby to him, When Rhea gave the baby to Kronos, he swallowed Hades. Rhea gasped. She asked why Kronos swallowed Hades. Kronos told Rhea the prophecy that the fortuneteller told him. When Rhea gave birth to a child, Kronos would swallow the baby. Soon five babies were in the stomach of Kronos. When Rhea gave birth to the sixth son, she hid him safely in cave in Crete. She ordered nymphs to take care of the sixth baby, Zeus. Later when Zeus got bigger, he made someone to put a herb in a drink for Kronos, that would make him throw up the babies. Later on, Kronos did throw up Zeus’ brothers and sisters. Zeus figured out that he had 2 brothers and 3 sisters. His brother’s names were Hades and Poseidon. His sister’s names were Hera, Hestia, and Demeter. When Zeus asked his siblings if they should defeat Kronos, they immediately said yes. Later on, the siblings did beat the titans and drove them to the dark pit of Tarturas. Later on during time, Zeus became the ruler of the universe. That is how the 6 main Greek gods formed.
